iPod and Flashcards

Q: I have a first generation iPod - are the Just Vocabulary flashcards compatible with the first generation iPod?
A: Yes, every iPod with the notes application is compatible with the flashcard application. The iPhone and iPod Touch are NOT compatible.

Q: Which iPods are not compatible with Just Vocabulary Flashcards?
A: iPod shuffle is the ONLY iPod that is not compatible as it does not have a screen.

Q: Which words are included in the Just Vocabulary Flashcard sessions?
A: The first 4 sessions (JV Flashcard Session 001-100, 101-200, 201-300 and 301-450) cover Just Vocabulary episodes 001 up to Just Vocabulary episode 231. For a complete list of the words, visit the archive of the blog (click here).

Q: Can I still listen to music whil practising the words?
A: Yes, you can still listen to your favorite music whilst you're practising your vocabulary with JV Flashcards. You can even listen to Just Vocabulary, but that would be cheating :-)

Q: How many Flashcard sessions will my iPod be able to store?

A: Your iPod can hold up to 1000 flashcards.

Store Payment

Q: Can I use my credit card to pay for my Flashcards?
A: Yes, you can. Add your flashcards to yourbasket/cart. Before going to the check-out, register with PayPay (secure and safe online payment system). The registration is easy and quick and you will be able to pay almost immediately.

Q: I don't have a credit card - how can I pay for my Flashcards?
A: Unfortunately you can only pay with credit cards.

Q: I have a credit card but I don't have PayPal. Can I pay without a PayPal account?
A: You must register with PayPal to purchase from our store. In order to accommodate people without a PayPal account, we have integrated the registration process within the store. After registration, you're ready to pay for the items in your shoppingcart.

Q: Why do I have to pay for this - your podcasts are for free?
A: It costs money to produce the show, and it costs money to produce the products as well. We continue to offer the show for free, but the additional studytools are offered at an unbelievable low price.

The Podcast, Software and Subscriptions

Q: I study for GRE, will this podcast help me?
A: Yes, definitely. Not all words are from the GRE Wordlists, but a lot of them are. We received a lot of positive feedback from former GRE Students that used Just Vocabulary as an additional studytool.

Q: I don't have an iPod, can I still subscribe to the Just Vocabulary podcast?
A: Yes, off course! The name podcast might be a bit confusing. Since we offer the show in MP3 format - any MP3 player will allow you to listen to the podcast.

Q: I have been downloading your shows, how do I know when you release a new show?
A: The power of podcasting is that you don't have to check on the website whether there is a new show. If you subscribe, we will let YOU know. There are a myriad of subscribing options, so if RSS is not your thing, use the email subscription.

Q: What is a podcast?
A: A podcast is an audio or video show, which is distributed over the internet, to which you can subscribe (like a magazine) to receive the audio or video automatically on your computer.

Q: I would like to subscribe, how does that work?
A: "Subscribing" to Just Vocabulary simply means: clicking a "Subscribe" button (in iTunes, for example). Then, you software will notify you each time we release a new lesson. Our audio podcasts are free.

Q: What software do I need?

A: You can use iTunes to keep track of your podcasts. It's got an in-built "podcatching" function. There are several other "podcatcher" programs (known technically as "aggregators"). Apple's "iTunes" is a well-known example and is possibly already on your computer (otherwise you can download it here for free). "Juice" is another program for managing podcasts. Each of these is a standalone program and Juice is also free. Some websites also have "podcatching" functions built-in, like Yahoo, Podnova and Odeo. (You may need to register with these sites if you are not already registered.)

Q: What does podcast software do?

A: If you subscribe to any magazine, you'll be aware that it drops through your letterbox regularly. "Podcast software" - or "podcatchers" - keep track of "subscriptions" you make to podcasts that interest you. Your podcasting program "keeps an eye out " and notifies you each time a new episode comes out. You don't have to visit the website to download the latest episode, your software has already downloaded it for you.
